You may have studied Shakespeare at school. That's all well and good, but it doesn't help you much as an actor when you're confronted with preparing a Shakespeare role. I am developing a course that will look at Shakespeare from a performer's perspective. We will dive into what makes a Shakespeare text different from other texts we might be more used to, and how we can decode the help Shakespeare himself provides us as actors (he was an actor too, remember). We'll turn the qualities in his plays that might seem like obstacles to a modern actor into tools that help us unlock his potential and ours.
Watch this space for details as the course develops and details about dates, times, places, and costs get worked out.

Who am I to Teach Shakespeare?
I am a professionally trained actor in Sanford Meisner Technique. I have performed in numerous Shakespeare plays over the years, and I have adapted and directed three: The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, and King John. I've attended the Shakespeare Lab workshop taught by Amy Gaither and Ronn Johnston, and I also attended a Shakespeare monologue workshop taught by Tim Hardy of RADA. I am a rabid and repeated devourer of John Barton's Playing Shakespeare video series and of any books on the subject of acting Shakespeare that I can get my hands on.
“I'm not here to teach you Meisner. I wouldn't be qualified to do that. Your technique is your own. I don't care how you get there; I only care THAT you get there.”
